Pukeahua Lookout Tower

This tower was donated to the museum by New Zealand Forest Products Ltd.

The lookout , known as Pukeahua, hails from the Atiamuri district and once commanded a view that looked right down on the Atiamuri hydro dam, dating back to the 1930’s, the time of the early plantings in the area, the tower was one of the last wooden lookouts found in a good state of preservation. It was shifted to the museum site in October 1982.
